According to FHP, A 26-year-old male driver of a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado was heading northbound on Town Center Boulevard when a second driver was heading eastbound in a Nissan SUV on Brandon Parkway.
Both vehicles entered the highway 60 intersection at the same time, crashing into each other and the Nissan caught on fire as a result of this Tampa Bay car accident. The driver of the Nissan was taken to Brandon Regional Hospital where he passed away from this deadly distracted driving car wreck. Unfortunately, the Nissan passenger died from personal injuries suffered on impact. The police are still trying to determine who ran the red light and caused this Brandon wrongful death. Distracted Driving Car Accidents in Brandon, FL.
While it is too early to determine the cause of this personal injury accident it begs the question as to whether one of the drivers was distracted and did not see the red light. Law enforcement agencies across Florida have long witnessed the deadly effects of distracted driving as first responders to Florida car and truck accidents. Auto accidents caused by drivers looking at their cell phones have become more and more common despite the obvious risks. Recently a new Florida law passed by the Florida legislature has given police officers in Florida the right to pull over distracted drivers. Previously, although texting and driving was illegal, police were not allowed to pull over Florida drivers just for looking at their smart phone.
Now that has changed as the amendment to Florida Statute section 316.305 has become effective making our Tampa Bay roads just a little safer. I can tell you from personal experience that we, at The Frank Santini Law Firm, often get personal injury clients because of distracted drivers on their Androids/iPhones causing Riverview car accidents on US 301 and I-4.
